Memory Stick is a removable flash memory card format, launched by sony in October 1998, and is also used in general to describe the whole family of Memory Sticks.
Typically, a Memory Stick is used as storage media for a portable device, in a form that can easily be removed for access by a PC. Most memory stick connect by means of a USB2 serial port.
The original memory stick was avaible in sizes up to 128 MB, and a sub-version, Memory Stick Select allows two banks of 128 MB to be on the same card. Memory Stick Pro has a maximum potential size of 32 GB according to Sony, with sizes up to 4 GB available as of 2005. Typically a stick of 128MB will be adequate for a Becket student to store their school work on. However those who study art, technology, or music, where lots of images or music files are used may be better of with a 256MB stick
If you are buying a stick we do not wish students to buy or use sticks that play music in conjunction with the school equipment. The main reasons for this are that we will not allow sticks that install software on our computers. We are also concerned that no stolen music is stored on your P: drive. Nearly all Ripped files are an illegal second copy of music you may or may not legitimately own. |
