Malpractice And Data Theft

Computers are seen as a new tool that allows people of all sorts to archive their aims more effectively. Unfortunately what improves a doctor or an office workers productivity can also do the same for a criminal. People talk about computer crime as though it is an entirely new thing. It is in fact merely an series of new ways of committing a number of very old offences. There are several types of computer crime which may overlap:

  • Altering computer data for fraudulent purposes
  • Theft of computer time and resources
  • Theft of software or data
  • Illegal copying and distribution of software, music movies and other products ( piracy)
  • Altering computer data for malicious purposes
  • Unauthorised access of computer data (hacking)
  • Deliberate introduction of viruses
