Networks

A network is two or more computers connected together. Computers in a network can pass data to each other. The simplest network would be two computers linked by a suitable cable or two computers linked by a wireless connection.

Many textbooks describe networked enviroments and Stand-alone enviroments. A computer that is not connected to any other computers is a stand-alone computer. Stand-alone computers are quite rare as many home computers are conected to the internet (and this is form of networking). It is very rare in a company to find a computer that is not either internet connected or connected to the companies other computers.

bic stand-alone is doomed!
