The Star Network
In a star network a central computer is connected to a large number of workstations. The central computer is usually a mainframe computer. Star networks as used by the banks to join the ATMs together. The national Lotery also uses a star network for the lotto terminals.These are the most expensive network type to install. However when a cable breaks only one terminal is effected, if the central computer breaks nothing works. Performance is one part of the network is not effected by problems elsewhere.
