Network Security

Network security can be divided into three main types. They are Physical, Access and Data security.

As late as 2004 students have experienced problems where all of these types of security have not been in place. Thieves stole many of the schools laptops last year. This a breach of physical security. The school has no access security until september 2005 all pupils logged on with the same account. Thus one student can delete or copy alter or delete another students work. Data security involves the backing up of saved files and many students who have suffered loss due to lack of Access security have found their files have not been backed up.

The situation is now much improved each student has their own password and their own P: drive where only they can access the work. We have also spent a great deal improving physical security. For example the metal doors and bars on the computer rooms.
