Mobile Phones

Normally you wouldn't see a mobile phone considered as a type of computer. But modern mobile phones have many of the features of a computer.

  • They allow data input by means of a keypad
  • They store data (in a database)
  • They have a range of inputs and outputs
  • They Process data - for example searching the database of numbers to match a name
  • Perhaps most importantly they can have different programs loaded and deleted - the most common example of this being the games you choose.

They do of course have their limitations particularly the keyboard and small screen. But with the ever increasing range of features like sound quality and cameras I think they should be considered a type of computer. However your examiner may disagree! So don't use this as an example of a type of computer in the exam.
