Sound Output

Sound output - like sound input from a computer is often forgotten. Computers beep and give audio output when trival errors have been made. But more importantly sound is a major component of many modern packages. Be Music or sound tracks to movies we are often concerned about the quality of the output we recieve.

A good quality sound card is important if sound matters to you. If you look for the AC'97 standard on a new computer you will have the 6 channel DVD quality output, but you then have to overcome the signal to noise ratio problem if the sound quality is to be good. Check the following for more:

The Computer to Stereo connection

3Connect your stereo or Home Theater to your PC or Mac! Record from your stereo to your computer, or play music from computer to stereo with very high quality.

  • Upgrade your Computer to High Quality Sound
  • Connect your PC to your Home theatre
  • Connect your Mini Mac to your stereo or Home Theater
  • Play iTunes on your stereo
  • Stream music over your network to your stereo
  • Play DVD's from your PC or Mac to your TV

Considering the online music sources and capabilities of today's computers to store your music collection on them, it is very common for people to want to connect them to their stereo system or Home Theater for a much fuller richer sound. While this can be somewhat easy or difficult to do depending on the location of the computer or stereo system, it is most often disappointing. While most Computers today come with sound cards and many have sound capabilities built right into the motherboard, the sound quality of these inexpensive cards and built-in chips is usually not very good. Most of them have terrible analog sound filled with distortion, noise and not very flat frequency response. The end result is generally a very unsatisfactory sound quality that just doesn't sound as good as it really should. Well, we have some suggestions for you! You can upgrade to a new sound card or use a USB or firewire connection to give almost any computer - even laptops or Mac mini's a high quality analog or digital sound connection.

What do you need? If you already have a good sound card or audio converter you will simply need the right cables and/or adapters to make the connection. Most sound cards have analog audio outputs using 1/8" (3.5mm) mini "phone" plug stereo connectors, so a standard Stereo cable with RCA connectors will require an adapter. For Sound Card or Sound "interface" upgrades you will need to have USB, Firewire or an open internal PCI slot
