Personnel

The different levels of personnel and the associated level of decision making has already been discussed. The levels are

  • Strategic
  • Implementation
  • Operational

There are relatively few strategic managers they will be in the highest levels of the company. Typically they make decisions that are long term (over one or more years) with a global impact on the company.

The implementation or tactical level is the middle level of managers in a company, they set short term targets for thier workers in order that they meet the strategic goals of the manbagers above them. The scope of their control is limited, the structure of teh comany detirmines the way in which the scope of thier decission is limited.

The operational level of management are concerned with day to day decisions for example worker X is sick how do we provide cover for him/her? The scope of control is once again much lower than the tier of managers above.
